Westway Clay Court Tennis League
About Us

How it all began

The way to improve at tennis is to play competitive matches. Ask any coach. So the idea for a local park tennis began on our local courts Highbury Fields, Islington. We set up the first league in May 2005 as a way to make progress, have fun and get some exercise with regular matches in a structured league. The idea took off. Since then, it has helped hundreds of players improve their game, find tennis partners and make friends and we have extended the idea to other local park courts.

The Westway Clay Court Tennis League began on 4 May, 2009 and we hope it will become a regular feature of your summer tennis.

Our Philosophy

We have found that although there are plenty of leagues and ladders in clubs if you seek them out, there is not always a regular league for players who play on one set of local public courts. Having one, we have discovered, helps build a sense of community, puts local players in touch with each other, and gives people a way of seeing themselves improve.

Our aim is to launch more leagues wherever there is a need, concentrating on public courts where finding opponents can be difficult.
